Hello,

My name is Penny Arrowood, owner of Pennywise Specialties; and I thank you for visiting. This year (2004) marks the second anniversary of my ever-growing business...your source for gifts that make scents! Like most endeavors of this type, I have not gotten to this point alone. I am very fortunate to have the support and encouragement of my husband, Kevin -- not to mention numerous friends and family members!

Almost seven years ago, we started making candles (in our laundry room!). What began as an exercise in frugality:  salvaging 'leftover' wax from commercially produced candles, grew into a desire to build a better candle. Thanks to the internet, we were able to research methods and materials; and, with much trial and a few errors, arrived at a formualtion that consistently produced a richly scented, clean-burning candle. Folks raved, and after hearing repeatedly that we should do this 'for real,' decided to have a go at making candles for the general public. Following a 'second honeymoon' for our fifth anniversary, Pennywise Specialties was born.

Specializing in the traditional Pillar design, I started with just 10 fragrances available as Pillars, Tins, and Votives.  In the first year, I added Tarts and Aroma Lamps to the line up; and, now stock a year-round fragrance listing of over 20 scents -- including four custom-blended scents. I have also added Seasonal Scents that rotate throughout the year (Spring, Summer, Winter and Fall). Over the past two years, I have developed a strong local customer base; and, have shipped candles and fragrant gifts throughout the US and overseas. Our debut on the internet is further illustration of our popularity with our customers. Now, no matter where you live quality, hand-poured candles are as close as your computer!

Last year saw the addition of hand-crafted Bath & Body products to my offerings. What started as two lotions, has now grown to include: bath salts, body powders, linen sprays, bath milks, soaps, and even more lotion selections. Always on the lookout for the perfect 'go with' items, I have a large selection of in-home spa gifts and bath-time treats.
